TRANSFER PRINTING
NOVA CHROME

remained and many more are still being proven –
methods like direct to garment printing and crystal
printing to name but two.
One method that has repeatedly proved itself and
gone from strength to strength is dye
sublimation.
This unique process requires the use of particular
inkjet printers, loaded with specialist dye
sublimation inks. Printing this ink on to a good
quality, matte coated paper, and mirroring the
image yields a typical dye sublimation transfer,
which can then be heat pressed on to a receptive
item – these include sublimation coated ceramics,
plastics, wood or metal. The end result of this is a
product that is vibrant and extremely durable,
owing to the fact that the ink actually
impregnates the coating rather than sitting on
the surface of the product like other transfer
systems.
There are many compatible inkjet printers that
can be used with dye sublimation inks, one of the
most popular being the new Ricoh GX 7000. This
four colour A3 capable printer is proving itself to
be something of a hit in the sublimation market
for a number of reasons. First and foremost, the
Ricoh differs from other inkjets in its use of high
