BOYS & GIRLS CLUB Academic Success - Graduate from

high school, ready for college, trade school, military or employment. Good Character & Citizenship - Be an

engaged citizen involved in the commu- nity, register to vote and model strong char- acter. Healthy Lifestyles - Adopt a healthy

diet, practice By setting up high-yield activities that

engage youth to become interactive and develop supporting re-

lationships in these three important areas, we are able to maximize the Club experi- ence on our youth. This leads to a success- ful impact and fulfillment of our mission: to enable and inspire all young people, es- pecially those who need us most to reach their full potential as productive, responsi- ble and caring citizens. Moreover, imple- menting a character and citizenship initiative that incorporates character devel- opment, civic engagement and service op- portunities reaffirms our nation’s historic commit- ment to the principles of democracy. Studies show that

young people who en- gage in service do better in school, maintain posi- tive relationships with adults and peers and avoid risky behavior. 1 Teens who partici-

pate in service activities are more likely to vote, and to have a positive work ethic and a so- cially responsible atti- tude as adults. 2
