City sprucing up streets

The City of Carlsbad is resurfacing a number of roads as part of an annual program to extend the life of roadways and ensure smooth going for drivers.

Streets were selected based on the age and condition of the roadway surface. An application of slurry seal protects the pavement surface from oxidation, weathering and cracking.

Traffic could be affected and roads in some areas will be reduced to one lane in each direction. Work hours for this project are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.

City staff reminds the public to drive carefully in construction zones and take alternate routes when possible. Temporary ‘No Parking’ signs will be posted in the construction areas.

Streets were selected based on the age and condition of the roadway surface.

What is the

The easiest way to describe a General Plan is that it serves as a written blueprint for how a city will achieve the community’s vision for the future. All cities and counties in California are required to have one.

You might have heard about the General Plan recently because the City of Carlsbad is in the process of updating our General Plan. Cities usually update their general plans every 10 to 20 years to make sure they reflect the current community values and new laws and regulations.

The plan includes guidance on where housing, shopping and employment can be built; how people will get around the city, where utilities and other infrastructure will go; how the city will manage open space; and other important decisions that affect our community.

If you’d like more information on the General Plan or how you can provide input, visit the city website, www.carlsbadca.gov/envision.
