MTEC Less-Lethal Systems recently opened its new training center in rural Perry, Fla. Just an hour outside Tallahassee, the state-of-the-art training facility has multiple-range shoot houses and a very unique prison cell block. The brand-new facility was designed for tactical training of law enforcement and correctional officers, as well as the military. The clean-slate-design firearms and use-of-force training facility has separate live fire ranges of 25 yards, 50 yards, 100

A

yards and 600 yards. Virtually all aspects of police use-of-force training from a hands-on cell extraction to the use of less-lethal impact and chemical muni- tions, to handgun-shotgun-subgun, to patrol rifle to counter-sniper rifle can be conducted at the new facility. ALS Technologies, of less-lethal prod-

ucts fame, is now a part of AMTEC. That explains the name change from ALS to AMTEC Less-Lethal Systems. ALS Technologies, once located in Bull Shoals, Ark., is now part of AMTEC Less-Lethal Systems. In November 2011, AMTEC Corporation, the Defense Seg- ment of National Presto Industries, ac- quired certain assets of ALS Technologies and is now operating as AMTEC Less- Lethal Systems, and is now a National Defense Company.

The former ALS offered a diverse line

of impact munitions, OC aerosols, chem- ical grenades, diversionary devices, stun munitions, a lineup of launchers, and a full line of less-lethal rounds designed for deployment using 37/38mm and 40mm launchers. They still do offer these widely recognized products.

However, under AMTEC Less-Lethal Systems, they offer much more to the law enforcement, corrections, and mili- tary communities. And that specifically includes training. When it comes to less- lethal technologies, the importance of proper training cannot be overstated.

The Training Center

The training center in Perry, Fla. has a large, roomy facility that AMTEC plans to expand in the future. The facility in- cludes a bunk house (with male and fe- male housing) with recreation room and
