s we saunter up the shoulder of Scott’s Ridge in Park City, Emily gazes over her shoulder and blurts out a breathless, “wow!” Oh Emily. I love you, girl. See, I spend most of my waking hours in the mountains as a ski guide, and to be honest, I share Emily’s exact same feeling of awe every day on the job, even after all these years. I never lose sight of how fortunate I am to spend 60 days skiing each winter, surrounded by these beautiful Wasatch


Mountains. To share these dramatic folds of this Earth with skiers from around the globe is my rare privilege and my calling. On this particular tour, Emily’s “wow” is the superlative du jour and we shout it all day to reinforce the thing we all know—we are lucky to be here, in this moment, on this day and, well, hell ya, “WOW!" Emily and her friend make their way to the peak and absorb the splendor of the westerly view while I drop into my deep guide voice,


pointing out and naming the peaks that pierce the horizon—Sunset Peak, the infamous Wol- verine Cirque, Honeycomb Canyon Ridgeline in the foreground with Baldy and the Pfeiffer- horn in the distance. This is the first full view of the Wasatch Emily and the gang have had on today’s tour, and it’s safe to say that they are struggling to pick up their collective jaws. From the top of Scott’s Ridge you see the southern-most boundary of the terrain, which
