First published in 1964, Roald Dahl’s Charlie And The Chocolate Factory has had two cinematic adaptations (soon to be three) before this stage musical, which takes direct inspiration from the 1971 film as well as the original children’s book. Opening in 2013 on London’s West End and directed by Sam Mendes, it toured the US for the first time in 2018. Original music and songwriting come courtesy of Hairspray duo Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, with sprinklings of Pure Imagination and The Candyman included, themselves iconic beyond Dahl and Wonka. This is the first time the show has toured the UK: immerse yourself in one of Dahl’s wackiest and most magical creations.
