BEST MUSIC

IF MUSIC BE THE FOOD OF LOVE

AKA @ ENVY

AKA is a privately held limited company, specializing in the design, manufacture and installation of stylish technical furniture for the Music, TV and Film industries worldwide. Established for over 30 years and based in North London, we have a state of the art design and production facility enabling total control of the entire design and manufacturing process from concept to installation.

Composer Oli Julian has worked across all three series of Eleven Film’s comedy drama Sex Education, where the music is so distinctive that it’s been cited as a character of its own. For season three of the Netflix hit, he took the musical language already established and - working with music supervisor Matt Biffa and pop star Ezra Furman – made award-winning music

Re-arranging Fuck the Pain Away by Peaches for the Moordale school choir and band to play out while a riot unfolds, in the third series of Sex Education, underscores music maestro Oli Julian’s sterling work on the show.

AKA @ Bleat

As well as our product ranges, we offer fully customised designs to fulfil our clients individual needs. We constantly push the ergonomics and styling of our designs using a variety of materials to create timeless studio furniture for Audio, Grading, Editing, Podcasting and Broadcast environments.

Julian’s “music by” credit for all three series of Sex Education embodies writing the original score and character themes, as well as adapting existing contemporary tunes from original artists and secured him the 2022 Televisual Bulldog Music Award.

He works closely with Matt Biffa, the show’s music supervisor responsible for sourcing and clearing all of the commercial music, “working out what the right song would be to cover and how we’re going to approach it and use it.”

Based in Sheffield, Julian usually gets the Sex Education scripts as they’re about to go into production to give him time to write new themes and explore new sonic territory.
