Want to write for us?

Articles can cover aspects related to fire, business and resilience planning, protection of lives and buildings, or insurance.

Our minimum word count is 1,500 words – we also require a two to three sentence author bio and print quality author headshot, for our contributors’ page, and high resolution images to support your piece. We do not run overt advertorial – the best way to proceed is to explain general principles or technologies in the context of fire and other risks, with mention of relevant products in a case study.

are tied to that of the fire and rescue service, and it’s a pleasure to have a number of articles written about how certain services – in the UK and internationally – respond to emergencies, as well as what safety equipment (old or new) they are using to do so, and the impact of water supplies on response. On emergency fi refi ghting response, drone company MCL outlines how drone technology offers all of the emergency services – and specifically the fire and rescue service – a new perspective, allowing them to make more informed decisions and assessments in emergency situations. In turn, telent’s Barry Zielinski examines how digital transformation can assist fi re and rescue services with the challenges that they face which relate to emergency response in the modern day. In terms of our focus on safety equipment, Ramtech’s

John Newbury notes that there are around 25,000 electrical fires in the UK each year, and he looks at how the latest technology is able to detect and prevent more of them from occurring. Stefan Svensson then explores firefighter safety while working at high altitudes, and especially creating ventilation openings as well as the tools used for these operations. Our third and final article on that subject meanwhile sees Richie McBride of Edesix explain how firefighters are joining both police and prison offi cers in using body worn cameras, which are helping them save lives and identify best practice. Covering water supplies, Kirk Rosenhan features the

water supply challenges faced by firefighters in rural Mississippi, and the solutions that have been created to tackle them, while Humberside Fire and Rescue Service discusses the steps it takes to ensure adequate supply during emergency situations. We also have one current affairs piece this issue, with

the FPA’s Dominic Louks focusing on how supply chain issues continue to plague UK businesses, and measures to take, including a newly launched RISCAuthority tool. The Viewpoint in this issue is both longer than usual and as always worth reading, with FPA managing director Jonathan O’Neill putting forward his view that action needs to be taken soon if we are to prevent a recurrence of Grenfell Tower. Our June issue will focus on building risks, cladding, building

lifecycles and timber frame risks. If you’d like to contribute an article to a future edition, please get in touch with me at wroszczyk@thefpa.co.uk
