Chris is head of risk management solutions at Aviva, across both small and medium enterprise and global, corporate and speciality
risk UK portfolios. He has more than 19 years’ loss prevention experience in risk engineering and prevention services responsibility covering various insurance lines. Chris was previously a senior account engineer at a global insurer, developing and delivering property/business interruption risk management programmes for large multinational companies in various industrial sectors.

Jon is the chief operating officer of Secured by Design (SBD). He worked in the police service from 1982 and as
an architectural liaison officer from 1990. In 1999, Jon joined SBD as its first member of staff. He has received two President’s Commendations from the Association of Chief Police Officers for his work in crime prevention.

Jim is the technical director of the FPA, where he undertakes research into fire protection with particular
emphasis on risk avoidance, risk reduction and risk management. He has worked extensively with the Association of British Insurers, major insurers, the Ministry of Defence and other clients, developing the next generation of fire safety management strategy, equipment and policies.

Craig is managing director of Jactone Products Ltd, a privately owned UK manufacturer of firefighting and fire
protection products based in the West Midlands that has been established for over 40 years. Craig sits on BSI technical committees and represents BSI on European working groups for various product standards.

Laura is a health and safety regulatory solicitor based in London. She is an experienced criminal litigator and
Magistrates’ Court advocate, who regularly advises businesses on fire safety, health and safety, and food safety. Laura has represented businesses in fire safety prosecutions across a variety of sectors including care homes, construction, hospitality and manufacturing.
Mark Shepherd Fundamental reform (p18)
Mark is assistant director, head of property, commercial and specialist lines within the policy directorate. With
responsibility for leading the insurance industry’s policy positions on issues including property, flooding, renewal pricing and riots, he also coordinates the industry’s response to major incidents such as severe floods, storms or riots. Mark joined the ABI in February 2013 from Stratagem, where he spent six years as a public affairs consultant advising organisations on lobbying and influencing legislation.

Richard is general manager at Horbury Property Services, which he joined in January 2017 after
three years as head of Homeworks, where he was responsible for the performance and strategic growth of repairs, maintenance and compliance works on 18,000 properties and buildings for Yorkshire Housing.

Andy is Pyroplex’s technical manager and leads governmental technical committees, as well as being a UK
principal expert in various aspects of fire protection. He holds a raft of relevant qualifications, coupled with in depth technical knowledge of fire containment.
