NEBOSH AND the
Patol focuses on aspirating smoke detection systems
AT FIREX, the company will highlight its Securiton aspirating smoke detection systems (ASDs) that offer ‘reliable and robust’ detection for early warning of fire. Patol stated that the ‘combination of sensitivity and speed’ make the Securiton ASD system an ‘ideal solution for many varied applications’. As the technology’s exclusive UK distributor, the company is supplying the system ‘for an increasingly wide range of projects’, with one recent application protecting inmates and staff at one of the UK’s largest prisons. Another saw it protect the largest warehousing and cross docking facilities in one of the UK’s busiest ports. Cold stores are another area in which
the systems have been ‘extensively employed’, as the detectors can operate in temperatures between -30 degrees and +60 degrees, which makes them ‘particularly suited to such challenging environments’. The detector can also be
programmed up to five alarm levels, while it also features a lint filter and an
aerodynamic measuring chamber with a smoke sensor that is ‘immune to dust deposits’, ensuring ‘little chance of false alarm’. Approved to EN 54-20 classes A, B and
C, the range has ‘scalable high sensitivity’ smoke detection for small single premises and ‘much larger facilities’. There are three detectors available, including the 535, 532 and 531, ensuring there is ‘an option to suit any environment’, while in addition on booth A440, Patol will promote its Fire Thermal Infrared (FireTIR) system, which uses fixed radiometric infrared cameras to monitor surface temperatures in real time.
Finally, the latest Firesense linear
heat detection cable (LHDC) products will be showcased. These allow for ‘integration with many fire alarm and extinguishing control systems, offering a complete system solution’. They can be used in hazardous areas alongside ATEX approved junction boxes and ‘Intrinsically Safe’ barriers, with analogue, digital and fibre optic options available
Apollo’s latest releases on show AT FIREX, the company’s SOTERIA range of optical detectors will see its latest product launched. This newest addition to the SOTERIA range is the SOTERIA Dimension, which Apollo says is a ‘chamberless, flush- fitting optical detector’ that combines ‘functionality and style’, and which has been designed to ‘fit perfectly in locations with the most demanding aesthetic needs’. The company added that the product uses new optical sensing technology in its ‘virtual sensing chamber’, and that it is available in two variant versions. These include the standard and
SOTERIA Dimension Specialist products, with the latter featuring all the standard model’s technology but also including an
‘anti-ligature metal faceplate and tamper- resistant screws’. It has also been tested and approved for anti ligature certification to TS 001, and meets requirements for the Ministry of Justice’s specification STD/E/ SPEC/038.
Apollo added that this has resulted in the
detector having ‘greater resilience against interference or damage’, therefore making it suitable for use in ‘high-risk areas, such as prisons, custodial suites and healthcare establishments’. The company concluded that its Apollo Test Set, a new portable testing kit for on site commissioning and fault finding, will be available on stand A325, with the kit able to test its three analogue addressable protocols, CoreProtocol, Discovery and XP95
Health
and Safety Executive (HSE) have joined to develop new qualifications,
which
will be showcased at the Safety and Health Expo running alongside FIREX. These include the NEBOSH HSE Certificate in Health and Safety Leadership Excellence.
The two
organisations will be hosting interactive sessions on achieving such ‘excellence’ in the workplace.

Event sponsor C-TEC HAS revealed it will sponsor the Tall Building Fire Safety Conference at FIREX, in addition to demonstrating its latest products. The new products on show at the conference include Hush2, its latest hush button fire alarm solution; CAST, the company’s new own protocol fire detection and alarm system; and its EN 54-23 certified visual alarm devices, digital
power
alongside hybrid supplies.

White paper Brian
ASSA ABLOY’S managing director
Sofley has
