The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE)


NICE has published an impact report on children and


young people’s healthcare. In the report, they bring together recommendations and data collected from a number of national partners to highlight how NICE can make a difference in priority areas of children and young people’s health. The report discusses the need for improvements in the transition from children to adult services, including a more focused approach for young people with learning disabilities. It notes that young people are often at risk of experiencing poor health outcomes when their transfer is not appropriately supported and coordinated. However, improvements have been seen within services, as data from the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health and the Health and Care of People with Learning Disabilities report show that there has been an increase in children and young people receiving regular NICE-recommended annual physical health checks leading to a reduction in health inequality within this population. This is the latest impact report in a series which looks at
