AIC SERVICES FEED & FOOD A S S U R A N C E S C H E M E S INT RODUCE NEW AUDI T
REGIMES In response to the need to demonstrate increasing levels of robustness in the feed assurance schemes AIC Services will be introducing a range of NEW short notice and unannounced audits for the FEMAS, TASCC and UFAS assurance schemes from Q1, 2020. Following a detailed consultation with
the relevant industry sectors, the new auditing regime demonstrates a flexible approach to each scheme and type of business the participant operates. The common theme however is that the changes represent a higher level of auditing within the combinable crops, feed and feed ingredient sectors. More information can be found on the AIC Services trade assurance website. Commenting on the new auditing
regime, John Kelley – Managing Director of AIC Services said: “This will really add to the credibility of the schemes both to customers and the Government and ensure that the schemes maintain their position as a trusted source of feed and food assurance – which becomes even more important as the UK begins to operate outside the EU.” The audit bodies have been gearing
up for this work both in terms of training new auditors and ensuring a coordinated approach across the schemes.
BIOMIN ANNOUNCES EU ZOOTECHNICAL AUTHORIZATION OF DIGESTAROM®
CAPSULE IN WEANED PIGLETS BIOMIN have achieved EU EU zootechnical authorization for the Digestarom® capsule in Digestarom® piglets.

scientifically proven benefits of applying the proprietary mix of plant-based substances to piglet diets,” commented Dr Antonia Tacconi, Global Product Manager Phytogenics at BIOMIN. The zootechnical author izat ion

SFT RUMINANT CONFERENCE – POSTPONED TO WEDNESDAY
NOVEMBER 11TH 2020. The SFT Management Commi t tee has postponed the Annual Ruminant Conference and their AGM to Wednesday 11th November 2020 at the Windmill Hotel, Coventry. Therefore, the conference and AGM planned for 2nd April will no longer be held. The management committee apologised

similar compounds in addition to capsicum oleoresin from chili peppers, can limit the release of a critical greenhouse gas, methane. Based on data from academic studies
and on-farm tests, these products have been shown to target a key metabolic pathway in ruminants and can result in lower methane levels. Methane production consumes carbon and hydrogen atoms, and consequently the addition of XTRACT®
, can
reduce the amount of methane released, which is expected to result in more energy being made available for animal performance. In dairy, it is generally accepted that
methane reduction results in higher milk production, as well as improved fat and milk protein content, while also promoting weight gain in beef cattle. In a project started in early 2019,
Pancosma commissioned the Carbon Trust to provide an independent validation, using the ISO 14064 standard, of the ability of XTRACT®
to reduce greenhouse gas
emissions in ruminant livestock. The Carbon Trust’s expert opinion,
delivered on November 22, 2019, stated that: “Based on laboratory testing against a valid baseline XTRACT®

methane emissions. On the presumption that XTRACT®
can reduce results in enhanced on-farm
animal performance, based on results from laboratory and on-farm testing, XTRACT® can lead to a reduction in methane emissions in cattle.” The Carbon Trust’s mission is to
accelerate the move to a sustainable, low carbon economy. It is a global expert advising governments and leading companies around the world, reinvesting profits into its low-carbon mission. PANCOSMA now plans to take additional steps as part of its accelerated commitment towards sustainability. “Improving animal performance is no
longer the only driving force behind the development of feed additives. We need to produce more with fewer resources and ensure the long-term sustainability of the environment,” said Pierre-Joseph Paoli, president of Feed Additives & Ingredients at ADM.

THE ALLTECH IDEAS CONFERENCE TRANSITIONS TO A VIRTUAL
EXPERIENCE FOR 2020 The annual Alltech Ideas Conference (ONE) was scheduled for May 17–19 in Lexington, Kentucky, and typically assembles more than 3,500 attendees from 70 countries. In light of rising health concerns related to coronavirus, Alltech has decided to present ONE session topics online, transitioning to a virtual experience instead of a live event in 2020. “Our first priority remains the health and safety of attendees, our colleagues and the communities in which we live and work,” said Dr. Mark Lyons, president and CEO of Alltech. “With that in mind, we have decided to host this year’s international conference on a virtual platform, allowing registrants from around the world to engage in industry- leading content in a way that is accessible for everyone.” Live-streamed keynote presentations
and on-demand video content from some of the world’s leading industry experts, including the most impactful presentations from past years’ events, will be available beginning May 18, 2020.
VICTAM AND ANIMAL HEALTH AND NUTRITION ASIA 2020
POSTPONED The management teams from the VICTAM Corporation and VIV worldwide have decided to postpone VICTAM and Animal Health and Nutrition Asia 2020 in Bangkok to July 9 – 11, 2020 due to the situation report published by the WHO on February 28th in which the risk assessment for the regional level as well as the global level changed from high to very high. This decision was taken after careful
consideration and with the interest of exhibitors and visitors and, above all, to protect the health of all attendees. VICTAM and Animal Health and Nutrition Asia 2020 is thus re-scheduled in July 9-11, 2020.
