Retirement of CEO and Appointment of CEO Designate at Wynnstay Wynnstay has announced the forthcoming retirement of Chief Executive Officer, Ken Greetham, after 21 years with the Company, the last 10 as Chief Executive Officer. At the same time, Wynnstay also reported the appointment of Gareth Davies, Joint Managing Director of Wynnstay (Agricultural Supplies) Ltd, to the Board as Chief Executive Designate. This follows the completion of a thorough recruitment process, which looked externally and internally, to identify a successor to continue the Group’s successful development. Ken has made a very significant contribution to Wynnstay during


his long career with the business, and will continue in his current role until early July 2018, in order to complete a smooth handover with Gareth. At that point, he will step down from the Board but will remain available in an advisory capacity for a period thereafter. Gareth, aged 54 years, joined Wynnstay in 1999, and for the last


five years has been Joint Managing Director of Wynnstay (Agricultural Supplies) Ltd. He is also a Director of some of Wynnstay’s joint venture and associate companies. He joined Wynnstay as Sales Manager for South Wales, and became Head of Agriculture in 2008. A graduate of Harper Adams University, Gareth commenced his career in agriculture at a large scale beef and sheep farm before joining Kemira Fertilisers, where he worked for 13 years. He also established his own enterprise in fertiliser and seed sales. Gareth is also currently a Director of Hybu Cig Cymru - Meat


Promotion Wales, the industry-led organisation responsible for the development, promotion and marketing of Welsh red meat. In addition, he is a member of the Welsh Government Trade and Supply Chain Working Group and the Welsh Government Rural Communities body, and Treasurer of British Grassland Society.


Biochem appoints UK Technical Sales Manager Biochem GmbH of Lohne, Germany is delighted to announce the appointment of Oliver Caiger- Smith as Technical Sales Manager for the United Kingdom and Ireland. Oliver previously held positions at Kilco and AB Agri, and will now be responsible for building on and developing Biochem’s rapidly growing UK business. Oliver graduated from The University of Manchester in 2013 having been awarded an Honours Degree in Biology and has practical farming experience working with sheep and cattle. Biochem is a feed additives business established in 1986 currently employing over 250 people and markets probiotics, prebiotics, enzymes, mycotoxin binders, chelated trace minerals, immunoglobulins and betaine in over 60 countries worldwide.


Aliphos Key Account Manager And Sales Manager Sam Phelps joined Aliphos in May 2018 as sales manager for UK & Ireland. Sam will be responsible for sales of phosphates from the Aliphos factories in Rotterdam and the new Dical + production facility in Dunkirk. Sam comes from a farming family in


Gloucestershire. He has previously worked in both technical and commercial roles in the animal feed and veterinary pharmaceutical industries.


Brian Pope to Retire Brian Pope, BASF Account Manager, Animal Nutrition for the UK & Ireland, is to retire at the end of October after 36 years in the industry. Brian is from a farming background in Lancashire. His first job was


as a management trainee with Dalgety Spillers at Walton-le-Dale (now a Massey Feeds mill). He later had five years running the family farm before returning to the industry with BOCM PAULS in roles involving pig production and pig feed sales and later with David Moore Flavours as product manager, before taking up his role with BASF.

New northern team member for QLF Liz Lunn has joined QLF as regional sales manager in the north to provide on-farm nutritional support for beef, sheep and dairy farmers. After graduating from Harper Adams


University with a degree in bio-veterinary science, Liz worked for a number of feed firms and most recently a local compound merchant where she advised farmers on beef, sheep and dairy nutrition for 6 years. In her new role at QLF she will be covering the area from South


Yorkshire up to the Scottish Borders, and is looking forward to working with farmers in the region to develop nutrition plans that include liquid additives and minerals to improve overall ration content and dry matter intake (DMI).
