In addition, Jer Doheny has been appointed as a Non-Executive Director and Tom Grant and Patsy Ahern have retired as Non-Executive Directors of Glanbia plc. This reduces the number of Glanbia Co-op Nominee Directors on the Board of Glanbia plc from ten to eight members for the years 2018 and 2019.
This reflects the revised Board governance arrangements described in the circular which was sent by Glanbia plc to its shareholders on 28 April 2017 and approved at the Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) of Glanbia plc held on 22 May 2017.
Patsy Ahern and Tom Grant continue as Directors of Glanbia Co-operative Society and Glanbia Ireland while Ger O’Brien has been appointed as a Director of both organisations.
In accordance with previous agreements with Glanbia Co- operative Society, the appointment of a Co-op nominee to the chair may continue in effect until no later than 30 June 2020.
BALLYMONEY STUDENT WINS 2018 ALLTECH: HARPER ADAMS SCHOLARSHIP
Colin Henry, from Ballymoney in Co. Antrim, is the 2018 recipient of the Alltech: Harper Adams Scholarship. He is currently studying for an honours’ degree in agriculture, specialising in crop management at the Shropshire-based University. Colin enrolled for the course last September. He hails from a family farm with an interest in potatoes and beef production.
A total of 150 Irish students are now studying at Harper Adams “We are delighted to have had such a long term relationship with Harper Adams,” confirmed Alltech’s Richard Dudgeon. “The Alltech scholarship was initiated over ten years ago and previous recipients are currently enjoying tremendous careers within the agri food industry. This is a tremendous testament of the courses on-offer at the university and the calibre of the students participating.”
Colin recently received his bursary from the Alltech team in Northern Ireland. He was accompanied by Basil Bayne, who represents the interests of Harper Adams in Northern Ireland.

FEED TRADE IN NORTHERN IRELAND TO RIDE OUT FOR CHARITY
Grain Traders and Feed Merchants are pulling on the lycra and getting on their bikes to support farm charities as part of a UK wide cycle relay. The itinerary for this 3,700 mile marathon will take in the principal feed mills, ports, grain stores and supply trade business sites in the UK. All
the regional Grain and Feed Trade Associations have come together to support the farming industry through the Farming Community Network (FCN) with all funds raised in Northern Ireland going to assist with the work of Rural Support NI.
“Supply businesses play an integral part in the farming community and we see at first hand the pressures that many farmers face” explains Charles Delf of the Bristol Corn and Feed Trade, one of the organisers. “The stress caused by economic and regulatory pressures, the sense of isolation and anxiety can affect both the farm business and the farm household.
“The aim of the relay is to help increase awareness of the issues facing farmers, while at the same time raising funds to provide on-going support for all members of the farming community and their families. “With farming facing deep uncertainty in the coming years, the workload of the support networks is expected to increase significantly,” Mr Delf continues. “These charities depend on donations and grants in order to support the farming community and our hope is that we can
