Sword & Trowel 2016: Issue 2
Update from DR DAVID ELANGOVAN IN KOLLI HILLS AND SALEM, TAMIL NADU, INDIA
T
HE Lord continues to bless the ministry in Salem. We have out-
reach ministries for children and adults in fi ve different places with more than 100 children in regular attendance. Among these is the place where I was born and brought up. Some ladies attend meetings there, including my mother.
On Sunday 2nd October eight new
members were received into the church and we have more applications in hand. My sermons are reaching many outside our church through YouTube, SermonAudio, the live broadcast and the Tamil daily devotional mobile app. We continue to pray the Lord will bless these means. The church in Salem is now taking
responsibility for an outreach Sunday School in Pattankiraipatti, a remote area of the Kolli Hills. This work was started by Pastor Thomas Edison and we hope to establish a Gospel witness in this diffi cult area.
The ministry of Grace
Reformed Baptist Church in the Kolli Hills is progressing well.
Many local children eagerly attend Sunday School. The roof work on the church building has now been completed and rainwater is no longer seeping through. Work on the fl ooring and electricity supply is still to be done. The Reformed Baptist Fellowship of India held a youth conference in the Kolli Hills on 10-12 October 2016. 150 young people from various reformed Baptist churches attended and were blessed by the ministry. Our translation work continues. We
have reprinted four booklets, and two books – The Personal Spiritual Life and Do We Have a Policy? – are almost ready for printing.
