Sword & Trowel 2016: Issue 2 CHURCH PLANTING IN CHILE Pablo Huircapán, Temuco Reformed Baptist Church

Arminian background, so I started to study the things I was learning. After several weeks of studying the Word of God, the Lord worked in my heart, bringing conviction and certainty about the truth. I have a special memory of 21st August 2011 when, in a teaching service, Pastor Masters preached on 1 Timothy 6.9 about “The snares of pros- perity”. It was a bird’s-eye view about the reality of most of Christianity in Chile. It was also my way to the biblical conviction about the doctrines of grace.’ On his return to Chile, Pablo continued attending his Pentecostal church, some 30 miles from Temuco, although he had em- braced biblical cessationism. He preached every Sunday morning until he left to be- gin the new work. He also promoted the use of Lessons for Life evangelistic Sunday School materials, translating visual aids into Spanish.

He was increasingly burdened to plant a

reformed Baptist church and followed the four-year LRBS course online as an audi- tor. He shared this burden with the pastor and elders of his church who confi rmed his calling. Members of Temuco Reformed Baptist

Church have started to evangelise in the public areas of the city both on Sundays and midweek. Pablo has printed locally 1,000 copies of fi ve different evangelistic booklets to help in this task. They request prayer for this and also for the launch of a new evangelistic Sunday School.
