Digbits in development
Digbits reports that it is developing a new tree shear attachment for excavators in the 4 to 8-tonne operating weight class. The unit will have full Hardox 450 jaw and chassis construction, 360° continuous jaw rotation and an enclosed hydraulic ram, with the ability to cut softwood of up to 300mm in diameter. Rotation means the unit, which is scheduled for launch in spring 2019, can be used
on both trunks and branches at all angles, and enables the operator to select the direction of fall of small trees to the left or right. Replaceable serrations enable it to grip and lift material before or after cropping.
Bobcat adds third forestry cutter
Bobcat has extended is range of forestry cutter attachments with a third model, the FRC150ST, for use on the smaller Bobcat S630/H and S650/H skid steer loaders and T590/H and T650/H compact tracked loaders. The 1.5m-wide unit is manufactured almost
entirely from Hardox steel, with a specially designed fixed motor for greater output and efficiency. It also has a lighter drum with carbide teeth, new hose routing and offers improved manoeuvrability. It is designed for continuous work on bushes and trees 100mm to 120mm in diameter, intermittent use for trees of 150mm to 200mm, and occasional use on trees from 220mm to 260mm in diameter.

The Hooka from Hook-Up Solutions is designed to combine the functionality of a small forklift, tracked dumper and spider crane for the safe lifting and moving of heavy landscaping materials. Measuring 1m wide, it has been ‘width matched’ to pallets and bulk bags, enabling it to reach the areas that bigger machines cannot, says the company. A patented Load-lock system has been developed to eliminate instability by effectively
turning suspended payloads into safety ballast for the machine. This is designed to allow the unit to be compact and lightweight with on-the-spot manoeuvrability, and to handle loads of up to 1.5 tonnes.
