Hello, I’ve been to my ancestral homeland in Scotland recently, where I was privileged to meet a couple of prominent hirers and catch up with SANY UK. Some of that is for the next edition, while there’s a profile of Martin Plant Hire on page 10. All told it was a highly enjoyable roadtrip, although Scotland lost 2 – 0 to Czech Republic upon my arrival and the Motherwell hotel I stayed in was absolutely chocka with Sassenachs. None of this was my fault, you understand! Back to this issue, and we appear to have stumbled upon a series of anniversaries. It’s ten years since we last visited Shindaiwa, which I was pleased to put right. Meanwhile, Hire Supply Co. notches up 20 years in the trade and Takeuchi achieves 25 years in the UK. If I didn’t already feel old enough, I sure did after all that. Other highlights include two plant updates from Nick Johnson, a look at battery power from Dan and a neat way to offset the cost of equipment purchases. There’s a lot to get through, so here we go…
