Eagle Plant Hire has been steadily investing in and expanding its fleet for both depots, to the tune of more than £1m last year. This includes items ranging from Genie material lifts, Stephill generators and MBW petrol compaction plates, to Hilti breakers, Makita power tools, Hire Supply Co lights and electrical equipment, and Doosan compressors. New vehicles have been added for the Edinburgh delivery fleet, including two dropside Ford Transits with tail lifts and a 7.5-tonne beavertail truck. An additional 26-tonne lorry is a planned addition for when Edinburgh expands to offer compact plant directly.


Douglas Smeaton says that many contractors and tradesmen he speaks to have full order books for the months ahead, and Colin Inglis adds that Eagle Plant Hire’s growth plans include a third depot in the near future and, perhaps, eventually establishing a presence south of the Border.
