Rick Biddiscombe of YHC Hire Solutions

Julian, left, and Chris Morgan from Versatool

“ “ We are a general

tool and equipment hirer business. We only bought the company three years ago, having previously worked outside the industry, so we are planning to go to the Show to see what’s new, network with other hirers and get some new ideas.

” Mark Raftery from Smiths Equipment Hire

The Show will be of great benefit to me as it will help me get re- familiarised with the industry, as I haven’t been able to attend for several years. I was previously working with a hirer of portable accommodation equipment and, prior to that, for a national hirer where I didn’t have a procurement role, so it will be good to catch up on the latest developments. Smiths obviously offers a

very broad range of equipment and powered access is also growing in importance for. We’ll be looking at the new kit available across the full spectrum.

” “

Marcus Gunning, left, and Ian Hartrick from ET Hire We’ll be going in order to check out the latest innovative products and to see what we

can add to the fleet for the year ahead. For us, one of the big issues facing a lot of our customers is finding dust-free methods of working. It’s massive, in the same way that safe work at height has been for the last 15 or so years, and more people are realising that dust can be a hidden killer. We’ll be looking out for products like power tools with dust collection capability, vacuums with sweeper attachments to avoid the use of brooms, and other new solutions.

” 19 “

Craig Wheldale from Frank Key Tool Hire I sit down with all 14 of our branch

managers well before the Show to talk about what we need for the fleet. Demand is currently strong across the board. Also, we are opening a hire presence in our Sheffield builders’ merchant branch soon, and so we will be buying more kit for that. The Ricoh is well situated in the centre of the

country and it is much easier for us to get to than London and other southern locations.

” “

Jake Hale of Hale & Co (Drybrook) The Show is an important date

in our calendar and we see it is a major purchasing opportunity. We always see new products and get some good deals as a result of attending. We go with a shopping list based

on what needs to be replaced in the hire fleet and what we believe customers will require in the future. And you always come across products you’ve never seen before or thought about.

” The Show is a chance

to see a lot of suppliers in one place and to catch up with fellow hire professionals. We normally go with a shopping list based on what we need to replace and new items that we can add to the fleet to meet customer requirements. The Ricoh Arena is a great location and it is very easy to get to.

Carl and Barbara Banks of P.E.T. Hire, Crewe

“ Both Barbara and I will

be attending the Show to catch up with all our existing suppliers and to see what they have new in their lines of tool and plant. There are always certain items for which we are ready to place orders, and the exhibition enables us to strike a deal with the most competitive suppliers on the day, whether new or existing ones. We are also looking to expand our sales operation, which is now 40% of

turnover. Accessories for sale to end users are well represented at the Show and we will normally add further suppliers from those who have a bit more to offer.
