UNTHA UK refl ects on growth which saw 50% rise in turnover
2018 was “the year of the customer”, believes UNTHA UK’s Managing Director Marcus Brew, and the industry’s evolution over the last 12 months will signifi cantly shape the company’s path in 2019. The team saw the waste and recycling market undergo ongoing change, which led to rising demands from customers. UNTHA UK has therefore had to adapt too, Marcus elaborated.

We’ve developed a more educative approach to working with them, to help them better consider how their waste and recycling strategies can unlock growth. “Internally, we’ve invested heavily in our business management systems too, to ensure our processes and procedures fully
support our client-centred ethos. “I think we have this ethos to thank for our 2018 growth, with many companies choosing UNTHA products not only because of our drive to reduce operational costs through our technology, but because we strive to always put them fi rst.” Despite challenging trading conditions, UNTHA UK’s turnover rose by 50% during 2018. Now, with over 9,000 shredders installed worldwide and more than 400 units in operation in the UK, the business
is preparing for additional growth in 2019. Marcus added: “The new QR shredder was a big hit for us this year, and the evolution of the XR series has meant we’ve been able to engage with more customers, shredding diffi cult applications such as pulper ropes, mattresses and carpets. “We’ve of course continued to help clients in our traditional Waste-to-Energy and alternative fuel markets, to maximise their revenues too, and we’ve expanded in wood thanks to the XR’s ability to produce high volume, low fi ne P63 and board spec materials, with ease. “I suppose a key 2018 theme for clients has been fl exibility. In the face of mounting economic pressures, they want to be able to shred varied material streams with a single robust, high- performance shredder. “This theme will undoubtedly continue into 2019 – and beyond – and will certainly be the driver for more shredder lines next year,” concluded Marcus. Going into the New Year, UNTHA UK has expanded on the engineering support products it off ers, and these solutions will come to the fore even more, as the next 12 months unfold.
