found at the start there were many challenges, but working together, the father-daughter partnership overcame all obstacles, and they are now planning for an exciting 2019. Emma continued: "My dad’s experience in the sector means he’s built up really good working relationships, which has helped a lot.” Their joint connections in the industry helped to open doors and win clients that include bakery group, Greenhalgh’s and property group Emerson. And while she simply indicates that the business’s turnover is “in line with forecasts”,
the fi rm is clearly pushing ahead. Two new Scania vehicles have arrived this year, and there are plans to expand the fl eet further next year. “The latest edition was the fi rst of its kind in the North West, the latest generation Scania P320 chassis cab with a Farid trade waste body, onboard weighing systems from MOBA and 360 degree camera systems,” says Emma. “The investment was made to cope with increasing demand in commercial waste collections.” The new business has placed innovation at the heart of its operation. As well as standard off erings for general waste, paper
and cardboard, mixed recycling, glass and food, its Coff ee Recycling Co off shoot is the fi rst provider in the North West to off er a used coff ee ground recycling service.
Launched in collaboration with London-based bio-bean, the business collects ground coff ee waste and delivers to Cambridge where bio-bean turns it into biofuels.
Drivers armed with PDAs, paperless contracts and fast response service are other examples of the customer-fi rst attitude. The business off ers a 24-hour call out service with one-hour response time for urgent waste problems, from freezer or compactor breakdowns to site clearances. All these services - coupled with the strong industry experience of Craig - and the infl ux of youth from Emma and Sam - means the business looks set to prosper to dizzy heights going forward. “We’re passionate about what we do, and my dad knows what he’s doing,” adds Emma. “Lavelle’s ambition is to keep it a local family business maintaining the high levels of service. There are big plans for future growth.” Lavelle Waste Services:
