Hiab appoints new Managing Director
IAN Mitchell has been named as the new Managing Director for the UK and Ireland for Hiab, the leading provider of on- road load handling equipment, services and solutions.
Ian’s new role comes after his predecessor, Rogier van der Linde, moved internally to become Vice President, South and West Europe.
With an impressive commercial- based portfolio working at automotive companies, Rogier is confident his replacement will succeed.
“I am very pleased to hand over to Ian Mitchell,” said Rogier. “Ian has been part of our amazing journey for the past 18 months, bringing a wealth of commercial experience with him from his time at MAN, Volvo and Shell.
“Together with the team, I am confident that we will continue our journey to become the number-one partner for on-road load handling, with a very strong focus on our services and innovative solutions.”
“This year is about driving and establishing our service footprint through our 20-strong network of depots"
In 2016, Hiab set out an ambitious four- year plan to double the size of the UK and Ireland business. Ian said: “The key focus for 2019 is to deliver against that four-year plan and we will do that by delivering greater customer service and satisfaction.
“We will be physically closer to our customers through our network of sales and service depots and we will deliver a higher level of customer service and attention than ever before. Hiab will also be driving more efficiencies within our processes and procedures this year.”

The depot network is an integral part of Hiab’s vision to become closer to its customers. These five Hiab-owned sites are part of a network of some 20 locations providing service and parts to the whole of the UK. These further 15 locations are run and managed by Hiab’s Authorised Service Partners.
IAN Mitchell Five dedicated sales depots
Through a mixture of acquisition and organic growth, Hiab now has five dedicated sales and service depots across the UK – Hiab Scotland in Cumbernauld, Glasgow; Hiab North in Northallerton, North Yorkshire; Hiab East Midlands in Atherstone, Warwickshire; Hiab West Midlands in Dudley and Hiab London in Bishop’s Stortford, Hertfordshire.
Ian added: “This year is about driving and establishing our service footprint through our 20-strong network of depots. We have installation capability at Hiab Scotland, Hiab North, and Hiab Dudley on top of our head office Ellesmere location. With national parts, service
and sales offerings throughout the UK, we are building a strong sales, service and aftersales solution for our customers, wherever they are based.”
This year marks the 75th anniversary of Hiab Loader Cranes and the 70th anniversary of Hiab's MULTILIFT brand, with numerous activities and celebrations planned throughout the year to recognise the milestones.
