EXHIBIT AT WASTE'18: 0161 482 6220

WARWICKSHIRE EXHIBITION CENTRE

BUNTING MAGNETICS & MASTER MAGNETS SIGN UP AS HEADLINE WASTE'18 SPONSORS

Bunting Magnetics and Master Magnets, two of the powerhouse companies in the magnetic sector and well- known for world class products throughout the industry, have teamed up with the WASTE’18 exhibition as headline sponsors.

Both companies are regular attenders at the yearly event, and will be aiming to build on last year’s success at WASTE’17, where their demonstration stand was undoubtedly one of the highlights of the event.

WASTE’18 organiser Andrew Gold welcomed the news, and believes the partnership agreement shows the strength of the exhibition – taking place this year on Thursday, July 5 in Warwickshire.

He said: “Both companies are great supporters of the event, and it’s a bit like welcoming old friends into your own home. Their world class products are always popular amongst visitors, and if last year’s stand is anything to go by they’ll be drawing large crowds on the day.

“It shows the popularity of WASTE’18 and I’d urge other interested companies to get in touch quickly on 0161 482 6220 if they are interested in exhibiting, as space is going fast.”

Irish company fi ned after they turned river completely green

DERRY-BASED J & A Renewables Limited have been ordered to pay nearly £3,500 for operating without a license and polluting the Altagoan River, killing a shoal of fi sh.

The costs included a £1,600 fi ne and compensation of £1,845 at Magherafelt Magistrates Court for causing the fi sh kill, while operating an anaerobic digestion plant without a valid Waste Management Authorisation licence.

In 2016, the Water Quality Inspectors (WQI), acting on behalf of the Northern Ireland Environment Agency, responded to a report of pollution aff ecting the tributary river, which fl ows into the larger Moyola River, near Draperstown.

The inspector observed the waterway to be green in colour and an odour of slurry was detected from the waterway. Slurry was observed discharging from a blue pipe, fl owing down the lagoon embankment and discharging to the Altagoan River.

The inspector discovered a number of dead brown trout, caused by the discharge after a quad-partite statutory sample was

taken. The court ordered the fi rm to pay £1,845 compensation in respect of the fi sh kill.

On 21 November 2016 a search of Departmental records confi rmed that there was no authorisation or application for an Anaerobic Digestion Plant to operate at that site on the Gortnaskea Road, Draperstown.

J & A Renewables’ fi ne coincides with the Environment Agency’s criminal investigation into the deaths of 1,000 fi sh in Horley, Surrey.

The agency has been investigating who was responsible for a “fl ash pollution” incident, causing the deaths of fi sh in the River Mole and the Gatwick Stream in October 2017.

The pollution destroyed years of work by the Horley Piscatorial Society to build up the stocks of fi sh in the river, which had to be removed after living there for 25 years.

A spokesman for the Environment Agency stated they believe to have identifi ed the company responsible for the pollution, but is not willing to confi rm responsibility just yet.
