WASTE RECYCLING
Life is a rap for music man B.I.G. Blaze at McKinstry
MANAGING a family life and a full-time job is never an easy task, writes SAMUEL McKEOWN. So try chucking a promising music career into the equation.
This is a reality for McKinstry Skip Hire Limited’s IT Consultant Mathew Amos, who is making a big noise in Northern Ireland’s rap scene, under the stage name B.I.G Blaze.
Born and bred in Lagos, Nigeria, Mathew manages McKinstry’s online platforms for their three divisions in Crumlin (skip hire), Belfast (Waste Services), and Newry (biomass).
Mathew (above) said: “I manage the IT system, installations of wireless and mobile technologies for McKinstry, and I specialise in anything hardware and software related.”
The African artist, who is in his thirties, has already released his fi rst music video called ‘Alone’, which was inspired through bullying; something Mathew suff ered from as a child.
He added: “I was victimised for stuttering when I was young, but it made me into a stronger person. I want to challenge bullying, because it’s leading to a rise in drug abuse and even suicide in Northern Ireland.”
Mathew is loving his time at McKinstry Skip Hire, and is enthusiastically encouraged in his dual career by his number one supporter and wife Emma-Jayne.
He added: “I’ve got three children – Tyler, 7, Eva-Rose, 5, and Matthew, 3 – my family are the priority, and my music will always be there for me.
“McKinstry have kindly provided me with the opportunity to work in an IT role, and follow my dream. Music is my passion and if anything comes out of it, that’s a bonus.”
Mathew now has a studio in his house, and is preparing to shoot a new music video for his second single entitled ‘Believe’.
