Pick up your wild tools on Retreat with The Sacred Earth School

From the inside of the straw bale building you can hear the odd rider and their horse, birdsong and the sounds of stillness from the woodland which surrounds it. The drum synchronizes each heartbeat to the pulse of the earth itself, holding the space conducive to shamanic journey work. We pass a talking stick sround after the journey to share with the group, the insights we have each received about ourselves. My ‘Woman as Wild’ and ‘Introduction to

Shamanism’ retreats are run from a magical place called Michael’s Folly. The first time I went there I felt the land speak directly to me about what I needed to share from this sanctuary. The woodland, organic garden, straw bale building, goat paddock and yurt are the warm womb where I feel the combination of all the elements I bring together really come alive. The need to

temporarily retreat from the world is now becoming more and

more important, away from sensory overload, the demands of life and stress, so that we can slow everything down and rediscover who we truly are, to hear the stillness within and reach out for our truth.

In a shamanic sense, by sitting with our thoughts,

going into non-ordinary reality and spending time in stillness, we connect to the essence of life, thus giving us a chance to pick up our wild tools and surrender to our inner and outer worlds simultaneously. The shamanic journey is the opportunity to be your own healer and connect to your own path more fully. There is also something very special for me about holding the space for others in a round building – it is a place where people feel free to share and release, become empowered and take quantum leaps. Expect to feel nurtured, to find courage and to integrate. Does it resonate? If so, see you soon.

We cannot stop the sea ebbing and flowing or the rain falling, but we can decide if we wish to be kind or critical, loving or selfish,” Dr Cheryl A Rezek
