Ramps
Challenge the children to roll the tin up the ramp!

By placing a large weight or lump of plasticine in a simple round tin you are able to get the tin to move up the ramp rather than down it, providing the weight is positioned at the top of the tin when placed on the ramp. By marking the position of the weight on the outside of the tin you will know where the weight is when shut. Encourage the children to predict; is it a magnet? Could it be the school hamster?

Ask the children to predict why the tin is defying the laws of gravity
Place the tin on the ramp and watch in amazement as the tin rolls up, rather than down the ramp
