These books are for children working at Level 2A of the National Curriculum. Children at this level will be reading silently most of the time, sustaining interest in longer texts and being able to return to them easily after a short break. They will be expressing reasoned opinions about what they have read and offer and discuss interpretations of text. Books within this band will have longer sentence structures with more subordinate phrases or clauses. There will be a wider range of genre and writing style and storylines or themes may be sustained over a longer period of time with chapters or sub-sections of text. More than one point of view expressed within a text and characters may be more fully developed. Information or action may be implied rather than spelled out.
