£100k investment puts MyWorkwear on course for £2m sales target


A


£100,000 investment drive is reaping dividends for MyWorkwear, one of the UKʼs leading specialists in custom clothing manufacture and personalised workwear. MyWorkwear, which employs 15 people at its facility in Telford, has seen turnover grow 25% over the last 12 months after securing a number of new accounts with a host of manufacturers, the high-profile retailer Harvey Nichols and Oxford University.


The company is now looking to build on recent successes by increasing its capacity by nearly two thirds with the acquisition of an eight-head Tajima TFMX-11C1508 that also gives it the capability to produce logos on clothing that feature up to 15 colours. Backed by a £10,000 grant from the European Regional Development Fundʼs Business Growth Programme (managed by Birmingham City Council), the

investment has the potential to create up to three new jobs and will help the firm move towards its target of £2m annual sales by 2021.


Record numbers attend 2018 Promotion & Branding Shows

he organisers of the Promotion & Branding Shows have reported that a record number of visitors attended the road shows throughout 2018. The first of the road shows occurred during June and after a summer break the remainder of the six shows took place throughout September and October. All of the shows have had a record number of visitors this year and as a result have grown in size with a total of 19 companies being represented at the Dublin show. Sean Barker, sales manager for GS UK, which organises and hosts the shows, said: "I have been involved with the shows for many years and itʼs been great to see the visitor numbers increasing each year. The popularity of the shows has meant we have had more and more companies join us to exhibit their machinery and products.”


New companies to the 2018 shows included Henbury, Dye Sub Supplies, Helly Hansen and Barudan, with others such as Disley, Neutral, and Irish distributor Caramba joining the Ireland events. Visitors to the shows have had an opportunity to view a variety of machines including a selection of embroidery machines from GS UK and Barudan. Alongside InnoPrinter and Dye Sublimation Supplies, GS UK has also been offering its printing expertise.


Major clothing and accessories suppliers included Prestige Leisure UK, BTC activewear, Ralawise, Russell, Fruit of the Loom, Stormtech, Result, Beechfield Brands, Yoko International, Glenway Trophies and Mirical Emblems.

James Worthington, managing director of MyWorkwear, said: “Weʼve had a really good three years and have created somewhat of a niche within the UK manufacturing community, who like our no-nonsense approach and our ability to deliver high quality workwear on-time and to budget. “We are already delivering up to 5,000 personalised garments every week and this additional investment opens the door to us moving this figure closer to 8,000. Now itʼs our job to go out there and win the work to reach this target.” Councillor Jayne Francis, Cabinet Member for Education, Skills and Culture at Birmingham City Council, concluded: “MyWorkwear is a good example of the type of company that can really benefit from our Business Growth Programme and how tailored business grants can lever the investment and skills needed to help local firms grow and create high quality jobs.”

he Galpeg Associate Programme continues to go from strength to strength, with the addition of three new promotional product distributors.


LKG Merchandise, Insignia Promotions and GB Merchandise, all recently signed up to the programme, which provides time-saving outsourcing tools and resources for independent distributors, allowing them to concentrate on growing their businesses. Linda Graham, owner of LKG Merchandise, said: “The desire to run my business my way was a big impetus to teaming up with Galpeg. Doing so has freed me of the routine tasks and I can focus my time more effectively on seeking out new business opportunities.” Claire Appleton, MD of Insignia Promotions, added: “I have been running my own business for many years and saw this as a great way forward. I wanted to take my business to the next level with the back office support and financial backing provided by Galpeg.” Gary Bucci of GB Merchandise said: “Weʼve been trading for little under a year. Getting on board with Galpeg has already brought about a step change – we witnessed steep growth soon after joining the programme. Iʼm now able to focus my time purely on account development opportunities. “We also secured big orders with Galpegʼs financial backing, as initially I didnʼt have the money to finance these myself. There are ambitious plans in place for GB Merchandise, and we are already seeing some of them come to fruition.”
