Fruit of the Loom continues setting standards in sustainability

F ruit of the Loom has

introduced a new colour for 2022, as well as joined the Better Cotton

initiative.

Athletic heather is the new colour and a total of fi ve styles – T shirts and polo shirts – will be available in the new grey shade. The sporty grey is sleek and elegant and suits every style. The special thing about athletic heather: the fabric is made of 90% cotton and 10% recycled polyester. This ensures that the fabric is comfortable and soft on the skin and is also fully in line with the sustainability initiative The Fruit Way, because it reprocesses and gives new life to recycled materials.

Alongside responsible production processes, Fruit of the Loom is constantly working on increasing its company standards and improving itself. In this regard, Fruit of

Owner Sam Hulme told the Buxton Advertiser: “It’s mind blowing to think my little shop is the best in central England. I’m buzzing, I can’t believe it. “I don’t know who nominated me but I’m so pleased to have won.” Skull Print was created in 2018 by a music fan for music fans and now Ms Hulme prints band merchandise and custom clothing in an ethical manner, by being able to trace her supply chain and after printing using recycled tissue paper and recycled/ recyclable mailing bags. She also uses a Brother GTX printer, of which a major benefi t is its environmentally- friendly inks.

Ms Hulme is joined in her cellar while printing by Skull Cat, the company’s mascot.

arbara Chandler best-selling photographer, known for her long-running design columns in the London Evening Standard, recipient of a Homes & Gardens Lifetime Achievement Award and contributor to numerous newspapers and magazines visited the Creatives in Residence Live (CIRL) initiative at CMYUK’s demonstration and training facility in Shrewsbury. She said: “New talent and particularly new graduates are my passion. They are the very lifeblood of our industry and, of course, make marvellous stories for the media. Unquestionably the UK leads the world in excellence of surface pattern thanks to the backbone of our old-established art colleges. So, it was a treat to have new talent and surface pattern combined on my so-worthwhile awayday in Shrewsbury.”
