Focus on Consumables
Two new Gunold products arrive GS UK is to add two of the latest products developed by Gunold to
its embroidery supplies range. Filmoplast Strong and KK Film offer new solutions to the industrial embroiderer.
Filmoplast Strong – complements the existing Filmoplast product. As the name suggests it is a stronger version of the self-adhesive embroidery stabiliser having a strength of 95gsm against the 50gsm of Filmoplast. The Filmoplast Strong is hooped in the frame and then a ‘window’ is scored out of the gridded release paper to reveal the adhesive stabiliser, the item to be embroidered is then pressed down onto this and will be held in position while stitching occurs. It offers
signifi cantly more hold during the embroidery process and is specially designed for stretchy or heavier weight fabrics. Filmoplast Strong is available in white and as 25m rolls in various widths. Filmoplast Strong and Filmoplast have further applications, including stabilising stretch fabrics e.g. T shirts, polo shirts, materials containing elastane. They are ideal for embroidering on items that are diffi cult to hoop e.g. trouser and shirt pockets, collars, cuffs, ribbons, belts and also thick items like horse blankets, etc. They also offer a solution for embroidering delicate fabrics where frame marks are unwanted, e.g. velvet, fl eece, or dark fabric types, they can also be used for the non-heat bonding of light to heavyweight fabrics. KK Film – Appliquéing is simple with KK Film, the double-sided,
self-adhesive fi lm fi xes the fabric to be appliquéd without ironing. Coat the appliqué fabric with KK Film, cut out the desired shape, stick it onto the base fabric, embroider – and you‘re done! A quick and easy way to produce appliqués with clean edges – no cutting out by hand. The self-adhesive fi lm can also be heat activated – simply transfer the fi lm to the appliqué fabric and activate it with an iron or heat press, this increases the adhesive strength and effect of KK Film.
