For two days only! T

he team at Amaya has for a long time now, been wanting to add a mid-level DTG printer to their portfolio to offer their customers. Something to bridge the gap between Polyprint’s entry-level Texjet Shortee2 and Echo2 DTG printers and Kornit Digital’s high production DTG print solutions. Now that time has come with the arrival of Polyprint’s next generation of DTG printers. Available in three models, these printers have been designed, developed and manufactured in-house by Polyprint experts. Created for non-stop production, these DTG printers are equipped with a bulk ink printing system, a white ink recirculation system, and an auto CMYK/ white agitation system, offering seamless production, with superior print quality up to 4800dpi. These plug-and-play systems could not be easier to use and maintain.

A must-attend event

Printers were invited to Amaya’s DTG Breakthrough Event in July to see fi rst-hand what these printers are capable of. The event was a must-attend for interested parties, as the demo model was only on display in the UK exclusively for two days. Amaya will receive its showroom model towards the end of the month.

On hand at the event to answer any questions was Kostis Gounaris and Nikos Kolyrousis from Polyprint. “People have been wanting these printers for a long time. Not only do they offer something different for our customers, but they offer somewhere for our customers to grow,” explained Kostis. It was this element that Amaya felt they were missing from their portfolio. Customers were either having to run multiple Shortees or Echos or move to other makes or models to cope with demand as their businesses grew. The next generation of Polyprint printers solves this issue, as Julian Wright, sales director, explains: “We have been waiting for a long time for Polyprint to bring these printers to market. The printers’ nearest rivals are the Epson SureColor SC-F3000 and the Brother GTX Series, and now we can offer something which competes with these and offers more besides. We were fi nding that our customers even when using multiple Echos couldn’t compete with the mid-range printers on the market, and these new printers perfectly bridge the gap that we were missing. We can’t wait to hit the ground running with them!”

Capabilities

The new NG series of printers all offer a print area up to 50x70cm, which coupled with a choice of 15 different platens enable the printers to deliver production for a wide application range. A quick print speed is achieved by the number of print heads with the NG120 featuring two print heads, the NG130 three and the top of the range model the NG140 with four heads. All the new systems can switch easily to direct to fi lm printing, meaning every base is covered.

Last month, garment decorators were invited to the exclusive UK preview of Polyprint’s next generation Texjet direct to garment printers at Amaya Sales UK’s Nottingham showroom. P&P editor Melanie Attlesey was invited along to find out more.

Polyprint’s NG130 DTG printer

Kostis and Nikos were running live demonstrations throughout the two-day event on the printer to show decorators in real time how quick and easy the printer is to use. Using real print times, it is estimated that a user can comfortably print 40 dark shirts and 51 light shirts an hour on the NG130, with the NG140 even faster. To coincide with the release of these new printers, Polyprint has also released new Texjet DTG inks. These new Texjet DTG bulk inks come with an enriched colour gamut for lavish designs, and quick fi xation times for faster production. These water-based textile pigment inks offer enhanced stretchability and superb washability for long-lasting prints. They are environmentally friendly and will very soon be Oeko-Tex certifi ed. But it’s all very well using the latest DTG printer and inks, but if you’re not using a garment that’s made for print, then your prints won’t pop or wash particularly well. Offering their expertise to decorators during the event were printing specialists from Stanley/Stella. Decorators could ask Kamil Ras and Céline Dufour any questions about printing and how to achieve the best print results. As Céline said: “One T shirt is not a piece of paper. To achieve the best prints, you have to have the best surface.” It was clear from attending the event that these next generation printers have created somewhat of a buzz among Amaya’s customers, with plenty of pre-orders taken during the event for delivery later in the year.

These exciting new printers will become commercially available in the UK from September.
