lackpool has long drawn crowds from across the United Kingdom (UK) to experience what is a quintessentially British seaside resort. At the heart of which is the Blackpool Pleasure Beach (BPB), as the first major park to open each year and the beating heart of Blackpool as a town it’s a must visit. For the theme park/roller coaster enthusiast it’s an essential pilgrimage as the first chance to get back on some major British rides. From classics like the Big Dipper
and River Caves to the modernity of Icon, the unique charm of old meeting new appeals to everyone. A place where every February hundreds of enthusiasts gather. The only time of the year where such a variety of enthusiasts gather in one place, one of the most special weekends.
After closed season, although very short this year, it’s great to be able to see people that you haven’t seen since the last days of the season before Christmas. We must take some time to acknowledge how amazing it is that Blackpool has one of the shortest closed seasons in the UK. It’s remarkable they managed to get everything operational for February half term having only closed in mid-December. I’m very excited to visit Pleasure Beach later in the season for the return of a retracked Big One, Valhalla’s reimagining and Enso (spinning cars coming to Icon). Opening weekend is a must visit for all coaster lovers!
