Online scheduling made easy


Briq Bookings started in the attic of The KartFabrique, an FEC in Utrecht, The Netherlands, 2017. The aim was to create a multi-activity booking system which bundled activities, services, and extras for its guests. The first results looked so promising that they decided to scale up their product and offer it to other venues too. best experiences in the leisure industry, says the company. As a result, it now delivers its solutions to over 250 clients worldwide and is rapidly expanding.


Where it all began The KartFabrique family entertainment centre is in the heart of an old factory. The owners, the Van Eck family, saw in the factory, with its atmospheric spaces, a wonderful opportunity to preserve a piece of history and cherish its authentic character. The enthusiasm for the old building and the ideas to make the best use of the industrial environment made it a setting for a family entertainment centre with a unique appearance. Each room has been lovingly restored with many details


from the old past and each room has its own story and history. In 2014 The KartFabrique was offering karting, laser


tag and catering, but reservations could only be made by email or telephone. Eugene Lubbers and Thijs Megens, both working for the holding company of the Van Eck family, thought this could be done differently. They started searching for a system that could help them

The start of Briq Bookings Eugene and Thijs decided to approach a company and started a small project to build such a booking system themselves, specifically for The KartFabrique. They located themselves in the hidden attic of the


building. “No windows could be opened, and our decor was a recycled carpet from a beer party” says Thijs. That’s how, in 2017, Briq Bookings began. In their mission to make their activities bookable online


24/7 and automate the scheduling process, they have built a multi-activity booking and scheduling system that allows guests to book personalised itineraries in just a few clicks. Joris van Kappen, who had worked at The


KartFabrique some 15 years before and was in touch with the team throughout the process, joined Briq Bookings as brand manager in August 2021: “We now offer a complete booking and scheduling product, including an extensive onboarding programme and help with online growth. We now have 250 clients worldwide and can set up a shop within 12 hours,” he tells me.


Making sense of the tech Not only does Briq create a webshop and enable online booking for its clients, but the bookings are also directly scheduled, while automatically optimising capacity.
