people get bored easily, AR elements can easily be updated, regularly creating new experiences for guests to enjoy for the first time and then over and over again. Games and attractions that utilise augmented
reality are versatile and easy to keep fresh, which means it is easy to support the use of AR at amusement and theme parks in increasing amounts.
THE FUTURE OF AR Playing different kinds of video games is currently extremely popular, and the COVID-19 pandemic has made even more people interested in playing games, because they can be seen as a way to experience something completely different from everyday life. However, it is worth noting that most games are
played at home on the couch. According to studies, 50% of the adults in the United States do not do enough aerobic physical activity. Meanwhile, for adolescents aged 11-17, a considerable 80% do not get enough exercise. This is why there is a growing demand for games
that help both kids and their parents to be more active and have fun together. According to Dr. Kathleen Gerson, sociology professor at New York University, today’s parents also want to be more active with their children and aren’t happy sitting on the sidelines. As mentioned before, AR elements at theme
and amusement parks are mostly created with the guests’ own mobile devices. But the next generation of experiences include projecting AR elements onto

screens or entire rooms, where visitors can see themselves on big screens as virtual creatures roam around them. Perhaps the most significant benefit of AR rooms
is that they can be used without wearables, with less supervision needed and less technology that might need repairing. In addition to these practical advantages for the operator, this type of set-up allows for more active movement in gaming experiences for the guests at theme and amusement parks. In the future, we will hopefully see more attractions
where AR technology is utilised in a way that enables families and groups to share magical moments
together while they are walking around a park, riding a carousel, or even jumping on a trampoline.
