Ripley’s quickly joined together to provide the special lobster a safe, forever home. Affectionately named Cheddar for her bright hue, and the restaurant’s famous cheddar bay biscuits, the lobster now shares an address with Rip, and the other marine animals, at the Marine Science Research Center. As an entertainment and educational company,
Ripley’s has always focused on opening the eyes and minds of its guests through memorable collections and experiences. The addition of Rip and Cheddar provided the perfect opportunity for the Myrtle Beach team create a new guest experience that focuses on the company’s ongoing commitment to education, species survival, and marine conservation. Extending the Myrtle Beach Aquarium visit, this
July, Ripley’s launched a new tour experience of the Marine Science Research Center. The new program, a separate ticket from general Aquarium admission, began soon after Cheddar’s arrival. Once a day, guests can take a guided tour of the marine facility to more about the aquatic animals that call it home. “Our aquariums have provided incredible
up-close experiences to more than 60 million guests,” shared Jim Pattison Jr., president, Ripley Entertainment, “The Marine Science Research Center provides us with the opportunity extend our care for the Aquariums’ animals as well as take part in local animal rescues. Now, our guests can see firsthand the work we do and learn more about marine life so that they can develop a deeper

understanding of life in our oceans.” Tours of the Marine Science Research Center take
place once a day. Tickets can be pre-purchased online and at the Aquarium. Tickets include transportation to and from the Center, and a tour that focuses on Ripley’s ongoing scientific research, daily animal care, and continued conservation efforts.
