Meet the judges
CARLY STRAUGHAN Carly Straughan began her career working in tourist attractions working on a 3-month contract until she found a ‘real job’ - and almost 15 years later she is still here. She now works with museums, arts and heritage, and commercial tourist attractions to leverage technology to help them support their mission. Ticketing, technology and tourism in projects have taken Carly all over the world, from Dubai's high-tech tourism culture, to China’s futuristic theme parks, via the UK’s world-leading museum fundraising.
TOM ANSTEY
Tom is a world-traveled journalist with over a decade of experience covering the global attractions and leisure industries. The former Editor of two major industry publications, he is now a freelance writer who also lends his industry expertise to Amazon’s AI initiatives. Tom is dedicated to uncovering the stories and meeting the people behind the world’s most ambitious attractions. If you’re lucky, you might find him riding his favourite coaster - Mako at SeaWorld Orlando, or visiting his favourite park - Le Pal in France.
NICOLE ROJO As representative of the European Coaster Club (ECC) for Germany, Switzerland and Austria, and an attraction industry blogger, Nicole travels the globe in search of the industry’s best attractions and waterparks. As a representative of the ECC, Nicole is involved in promoting the industry to both its members and the mainstream media, as well as organising events at theme parks. Nicole’s blog is read by a worldwide audience, covering reviews of parks and news updates on new attractions. Nicole is ranked in the Top 20 women for having ridden the most rollercoasters (over 2,500).
TRINITY LAWSON
Trinity Lawson is the Director of Membership Marketing & Communications for the World Waterpark Association. Before joining WWA, she served as Vice President of Marketing for a leading U.S.
waterslide manufacturer, where she helped shape brand strategy, industry communications, and customer engagement. Today, she works closely with waterpark owners and operators, plus industry partners, to strengthen connections and promote collaboration across the aquatic industry.
