The Park World Excellence Awards 2021 will close for entries and nominations on Thursday 30 September. In a celebration of all that is great about the industry, the winners will be crowned at a live streamed event in December.

ince its inception in 2018, the Park World Excellence Awards has garnered huge respect for its identification and
celebration of best-in-class entertainment destinations, projects, products and people. Park World Excellence Awards judge,
François Mayné speaks for the entire team when he says: “Despite the pandemic, all players of our industry have made great efforts to keep innovating and bring novelties to the market. Many interesting projects went to term across the EMEA region, so I urge all operators and companies involved to try their luck by entering the awards. A Park World Excellence Award not only will salute your efforts, but it will also bring you more visibility within the industry, among your peers and your customers.” Key to the Park World Excellence Awardsʼ position as a leading event for the EMEA attractions industry, is the stringent judging process, in which an independent panel of industry experts spends considerable time assessing each entry and nominee against criteria of ʻExcellenceʼ. As Park World Excellence Awards judge
Marek Pisarski says, “The contribution that the Park World Excellence Awards makes to innovation in the industry is very concrete. The wide spectrum of different categories each to be evaluated on different levels and mobilises the debate about quality in a very important way. Industry members should therefore enter the competition and nominate their industry colleagues.”

Project Categories Entrants to the Project Categories can come from companies outside the EMEA region, but to be eligible the ride, attraction, project or product must be located in the EMEA region. It must also have opened or become available in the EMEA region

Best Roller Coaster • A roller coaster that pushed the boundaries in design and creativity, or overcame challenges in construction
• Is unique and different to any other roller coaster
• Can be wood, steel or hybrid
Best Roller Coaster - Limited Budget • Again, a roller coaster pushed the boundaries in design and creativity, or overcame challenges in construction
• Is unique and different to any other roller coaster
• Can be wood, steel or hybrid
Best Ride(s) • A ride, or group of rides • Can be an individual kiddie ride, family ride, thrill ride or water ride, or a mix of those rides
• If creating a new area, the project can be entered as one
• Isnʼt a roller coaster, water slide or dark ride • Is innovative and unique
Best Ride(s) - Limited Budget • Again, a ride, or group of rides • Can be an individual kiddie ride, family ride, thrill ride or water ride, or a mix of those rides
• If creating a new area, the project can be entered as one
• Isnʼt a roller coaster, water slide or dark ride • Is innovative and unique
Best Dark Ride or Media-Based Experience • An indoor amusement ride or walk-through attraction in which guests ride in vehicles or travel by foot through scenes telling a story with animatronics, special effects or video
• Or an attraction mixing video and physical experiences, such as scent pods, moving seats or water sprays
• Is unique and pushes the boundaries in design and creativity
Best Water Park Experience • An indoor or outdoor ride (e.g. water slide), attraction (e.g. wave pool, surf simulator, etc.) or experience opened by a water park
• Isnʼt a water ride or a water slide opened by an amusement park
• Is innovative and unique
Best FEC Project • A project opened by a Family Entertainment Centre (FEC) or Family Indoor Attraction
• Can be a roller coaster, a ride, an attraction, a show, an entertainment or any kind of experience
• Is innovative and unique or pushes the boundaries in design or creativity.
Best Use of Theming • Theming or special effects seen in a theme/ water park either in a ride, or restaurant, or shop, or show or in a resort hotel
• The theming could incorporate scenery, animatronics, video projections, lighting, audio or pyrotechnics
• Has significantly improved the guest experience of a ride or visit to a theme/ water park, transforming the ordinary to the extraordinary.
Best Use of Technology • Technology that can be seen in a theme/water park or in a FEC
• An outstanding use of one or several technologies together to design a project (either a ride, or restaurant, shop, show, resort hotel, etc.)
