THIS MONTH’S COVER SHOT:
Designed and built by The Gravity Group, the Mine Blower wooden coaster explodes on the scene at Fun Spot America, Kissimmee, Florida. It not only features a unique 360° barrel roll but also includes a 115° bank turn that gives the riders a head over heart moment.
This is the only wooden coaster in North America with this type of banked turn following a 360° barrel roll.

July definitely has to be one of the best months of the year when you work in the attractions industry. With so many new rides and attractions opening up, it has been a struggle to fit them all in! Having said that, having too much going on is surely the best problem to have, is it not? With so many new and innovative ride concepts being
revealed on an almost daily basis, it is great to see that business is booming. Another indicator of the industry’s current fruitfulness is the amazing response event organisers received at this years Asian Attractions Expo, held in Singapore (more info on page 38). An estimated 7,500 participants were in attendance this year, with over half of qualified buyers visiting for the first time. I’m pretty confident that we have done a great job of
covering all of the biggest and best attractions opening their doors to the public this month. Highlights include our North American Editor Paul Ruben’s extensive feature on the brand new attraction at Disney’s Animal Kingdom – Pandora: The World Of Avatar (Page 28). The whole land is simply mesmerising and definitely sets a new benchmark for what can be done with a great backstory like that of Avatar. Make sure you check out our extended theming
feature in this issue (Page 44). With the theming of an attraction becoming just as important and innovative as every other element, we have rounded up some of the best theming work the industry has to offer. This really is a great time to work within the attractions
industry, as there is so much creative and forward thinking on display every day. So much so that I find myself taking inspiration to challenge and push myself even further. After all sometimes we all need a bit of inspiration - something that this wonderful industry is definitely full of.
