www.casinointernational-online.com EDITOR’S COMMENT Managing Editor: Jon Bruford
ICE was a pretty pleasant surprise, despite not having anything much for the land-based industry – it was certainly not awful (though some aspects certainly were not good), and the fi rst day was extremely well-attended; attendance declined on subsequent days, but that wasn’t a huge surprise. Casino International publisher Datateam business Media also hosted The Casino Awards at the Tower Hotel on the fi rst night of ICE, and if our guests were anything to go by then all the major casinos were in town regardless of the makeup of ICE’s expo fl oor. We had SBM, Grosvenor, The Hippodrome, Holland Casinos, Casinos Austria, Les Ambassadeurs, Partouche… It’s a long list. And we had a great night. I got the chance to try some nice new shirts out, so that was good, plus my most excellent red boots, which I think it’s fair to say were the talk of the show. For me, anyway. I digress. We needed an ICE – though next year will be some quandary for the organisers, as they will have to come up with a new fl oorplan and I do not envy them that job one bit. Many exhibitors were delighted with their positioning and traffi c, and to have to revert after they stayed on and supported the event would not go down well for many people. But let’s see what happens, because you never know. It might all come good. Next up, who cares? Pretty sure we’ll all be there anyway. See you there!

ECA and Clarion launch Innovation Symposium
The European Casino Association and Clarion Gaming have confirmed a new Innovation Symposia, designed to bring casino operators and industry suppliers together in advance of ICE London 2023. The programme is scheduled to commence
in the coming month with a series of digital round-tables staged across Europe. These will be followed by a larger in-person gathering in Brussels scheduled for early June. Stuart Hunter, managing director of Clarion
Gaming, said: “The feeling is that the European casino sector as represented by the ECA and the industry games creators would benefit by coming together in a series of symposia to plan how the casino sector can come back stronger post-Covid and what it needs from the supplier side to make that happen.
“ICE 2023 has been earmarked as a pivot
event in the recovery timetable and the sights gained from the digital and in-person symposia
will help determine what the future looks like. We are delighted to be driving this forward in partnership with our colleagues at the ECA who are great supporters of the ICE brand.” Per Jaldung, ECA chairman, added: “The
industry needs to rebuild and re-energise in the quickest and most efficient way possible. Many members of the ECA attended the ICE London 2022 event and the view is that we will benefit tremendously from such an exercise. “Holding an in-person innovation symposium

in Brussels in June is an exciting prospect and I am delighted that we are able to partner with the team at Clarion in order to get this initiative off the ground. We would also like to hear from other strategic bodies and associations who would like to be part of this open-forum for debate, discussion and collaboration.”

CASINO NEWS
Win Systems has installed its Huo Long roulette at Casino Divonne, one of the casinos of Groupe Partouche in the French town of Divonne-les-Bains. The Huo Long roulette includes the usual 36 numbers plus zero. It features an attractive layout in the shape of an eight (a number linked to fortune in the Chinese tradition), and allows the player to bet on groups of numbers based on elements of the ancient Chinese culture.
The supplier is planning new installations of its Gold Club roulettes in the French market soon. Eric Benchimol, CEO of Win Systems, said: “At Win Systems, we continue to take very relevant steps in the French market, which is undoubtedly one of the most sophisticated and demanding on the continent. It is a great satisfaction for us to take these steps forward hand in hand with one of the best casinos in the country, Casino Divonne from Groupe Partouche, and with our distributor Casino Advanced Technology. Thanks to the Gold Club premium electronic roulettes, we have a solution that offers the very high performance that this market demands, with the level of innovation that Casino Divonne needs to satisfy its players.”
