www.casinointernational-online.com EDITOR’S COMMENT Managing Editor: Jon Bruford
Often when the gambling industry – specifi cally casinos – is criticised, we as a group reply by explaining how our sector is so much more regulated than almost any other, we couldn’t possibly get away with anything. And even as we explain this to our critics, other parts of the industry are pulling away the seat as we’re about to sit, while cackling and pointing like Nelson Muntz. Specifi cally, I’m thinking of what’s been going on in Australia with Star Casinos. I’m not going to get into details here – there are probably books being written on the whole event as I write this – I just want to say you know what? We can do better than this. Never mind what regulators say or do, we can hold ourselves to higher standards than this. We have to look at the business as a long-term one – and that doesn’t mean rinsing everyone for as much cash as possible in case we never see them again, and it defi nitely doesn’t mean laundering money. How many people in an organisation would have to be aware of money laundering for it to happen effectively? I’m honestly not sure but given how many AML checks and balances most casinos endure, it’s hard to picture any casino really not knowing what’s going on. Or at the very least suspecting, and hopefully acting on it. We can all move to create a positive culture for our staff, and when we do that extends organically to our customers, and they know it. They may not put it in to words or on a Trip Advisor review, but they feel it when a place exudes positivity. We can, and should, hold ourselves to higher standards than we do presently, and to do so heads off regulation far better than pretending nothing is happening and hoping for the best. But what do I know? I don’t even have hair.

JCM upgrades ICB across 12 Cherokee Nation properties
JCM has upgraded its ICB Intelligent Cash Box system on nearly 7,600 gaming devices at 12 Cherokee Nation casino properties. Including this installation, the ICB system is simplifying the drop process on more than 30% of all gaming devices in North America. The upgrade is part of JCM’s technology roadmap
for Cherokee Nation, whose properties are protected by JCM’s iVIZION and UBA bill validators. Dave Kubajak, JCM SVP of sales, marketing &
operations, said: “We have enjoyed a long-term relationship with the Cherokee Nation, and we are honoured with the trust they continue to place in JCM Global.” “As we listen to our partners, we help them create a
technology roadmap that will chart a course for success today and into the future, and this upgrade to our ICB 3.0 system is a key part of that strategic plan.” Each of the Nation’s 12 gaming properties now has
the full power of ICB 3.0, including web reports, which provides complete information on bill acceptance rates, acceptor versions, duplicate assets, error history and revenue – in summary or detail. ICB 3.0 web reports are available from any device with a web
browser and access to the property network. JCM installed
ICB 3.0 at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa, Cherokee Smoke Shop (Catoosa), Cherokee Casino South Coffeyville, Cherokee Casino Fort Gibson, Cherokee Casino Grove, Cherokee Casino Ramona, Cherokee Casino & Hotel Roland, Cherokee Travel Plaza & Gaming Parlor, Cherokee Casino Sallisaw, Cherokee Casino & Hotel West Siloam Springs, Cherokee Smoke Shop (West Siloam Springs), Cherokee Casino Tahlequah, and Cherokee Casino Will Rogers Downs.
