Gaming revenue surges 6.7 per cent in May to MOP22.6 bln

acau casinos generated a total of MOP22.6 billion (USD2.80 billion) in gross gaming revenue (GGR) in May, the city’s gaming regulator announced.


The figure accounts for a 6.7 per cent year-on-year expansionand is similar to the GGR recorded in January and March. GGR performance in May normally benefits from the Labour Day Golden Week holiday.


Total GGR in the first five months of 2026 reached MOP108.4 billion, 10.9 per cent more than in the same period of last year, according to data released by the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ).


The monthly average so far this year stands at MOP21.68 billion, above the MOP19.66 billion required to meet the government’s 2026 full-year forecast of MOP236 billion.


Wynn’s top shareholder Fertitta buys US gaming operator Caesars

ilman Fertitta, the largest single shareholder of Wynn Macau’s parent company Wynn Resorts, is set to acquire US casino operator Caesars Entertainment in a $17.6 billion deal.


The announcement was made by the Las Vegas gaming giant and Fertitta Entertainment, which is controlled by Mr Fertitta and his family.


The deal includes the assumption of $11.9 billion of Caesars’ outstanding debt.


Caesars merged with Eldorado Resorts in 2020 to form one of the biggest casino and entertainment companies in the US, including eight Las Vegas casinos.


The group runs more than 50 casinos across North America, alongside a retail and online sports-betting platform.


Fertitta Entertainment owns the Golden Nugget Hotel and Casinos, the NBA’s Houston Rockets, and more than 600 hospitality properties across 15 countries.


Tilman Fertitta currently serves as the US ambassador to Italy and San Marino.


Ex-MGM China top executive Hubert Wang to become COO of Sands China


H


ubert Wang, who served as MGM China’s President and Chief Operating Officer until last December, will join Sands China as Chief Operating Officer (COO), according to an internal company memo seen by Macau News Agency (MNA). Joining the Sands China Executive Committee, Wang will drive the group’s gaming, resort, and property operations, while leading international marketing and strategic analysis, the email sent by Sands China President and CEO Grant Chum indicates. Wang will return to the Las Vegas Sands group, having previously spent several years in the United States with Las Vegas Sands, Caesars, and Penn National. He was also part of the pre-opening teams for the Venetian Macau and Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, which opened in 2007 and 2010, respectively.


“I am confident Hubert will be a valuable addition to our senior executive team, as we continue to strengthen our market leadership,” Chum said in the internal memo.


Aristocrat reports 6.2 per cent EBITDA growth in half-year results


ustralian gaming technology giant Aristocrat Leisure Ltd has reported a 6.2 per cent year-on-year EBITDA increase for the six months ending 31 March 2026, reaching AU1.18billion(US854 million).

Aristocrat Leisure Ltd is the parent company of Aristocrat Gaming, a slot machine manufacturer and gaming content provider with a leading position in the Macau market.


According to a filing with the Australian Securities Exchange, the group indicated that growth was driven by an improved 36.9 per cent margin, with net profit after tax climbing 8.4 per cent to AU794million(US575 million).


Aristocrat’s revenue remained largely unchanged compared with the same period last year at AU3.03billion(US2.19 billion). “Our earnings growth reflects disciplined execution, strong revenue momentum throughout our portfolio, and a continued focus on efficiency and extracting operating leverage,” said Aristocrat’s chief executive and managing director, Trevor Croker, in a company statement.
