I’m really bad at “Editor’s Welcome” pages; I’m known for it in the company. I tend to just talk about nothing, constantly running a word count (26 so far, in case you were wondering) until it gets to around 230 and then I say ‘goodbye’ and head back into the garden to see if it’s started raining yet (something I get to do regardless of the season thanks to my east London location).
Some people see being able to write about nothing as a skill (85 by the way). I could take the easy route and tell you to check out our special feature on Casino Management Systems, but that would make the other part of the contents page superfluous. I could also
mention very specific pages, like page 15, which is two pages into the LATAM section of the magazine. Perhaps I could name-drop Sharon Harris. She’s our North American editor and an email buddy of mine. Up to 157 now. We’re properly broken the back of it haven’t we. The only problem with this style of “Editor’s Welcome” is that some of our pesky readers do check them out. Very Tall Duncan (as I call him) from DRGT dropped me an email recently saying that he reads them. So, hello Duncan. If this was Facebook you’d get a badge for being the biggest fan of the “Editor’s Welcome”. As it is, you can just imagine my photo is looking directly at you. Which it isn’t. Anyway. All done. Good job everyone.
