PROFILE Who’s Who Arkadi Simonyan

This month: Digitain’s Head of Online Betting Analysis and Operations

How did you first get involved with the gaming industry?

I met a friend of mine during a visit to Macau in 1999; he was working in the iGaming industry at the time and he advised me to join.

What attracted you to this sector? Passion. It’s a hard-working industry and incredibly immersive.

What were you doing prior to the gaming industry?

I’d just completed my national service in the army and was a student.

What are you responsible for in your current position?

I lead the online betting analysis and operational department, which means I run operations management systems, control the working process of all online games we support as well as plan the workflow and operational structure of our teams and our gaming projects.

What have been the biggest industry changes you’ve seen in your time?  towards industry development cannot be understated, especially in tandem with the move from brick and mortar to mobile gambling that we have seen in the last decade.   global operators and suppliers approach their strategy for development permanently. What are the biggest positive factors for your sector right now?

Definitely the growth of new markets. The iGaming world has never been as connected as it is now, and at Digitain we’re currently  

And what are the negatives ones – the obstacles to growth?

With each new market comes a new set of regulation and compliance that must be adjusted to. When this works, such as with

Looking at your entire career, what do you think was your smartest move? My smartest move was being one of the first   

What do you think the egaming space will look like in ten years’ time? We’re going to see more gaming competitions and markets than we ever could imagine even just a few years ago. If you’d never embarked on this career, what other line of work would you have liked to pursue?

It would definitely be connected with jurisprudence as I’m a graduate in law.
