DESIGNER DESIGNER RANGES R A N G E S
Previously function was at the core, with interior design a mere after-thought for bathrooms. However, with Pinterest and home renovation programs booming, aesthetic bathrooms are no longer a rare spot in a posh hotel but a common find in the average household.
A Truly Trending Bathroom A
s we look to the past it’s clear to see how bathroom design has evolved.
Comment by Richard Farrimond Senior Product Manager, Heritage
Current Trends Current trends include unusual, rounded shapes for ceramics, such as bowl-like baths or curvy sinks and bringing natural colours into the bathroom with wicker laundry baskets and sandy bath mats. Similarly, unexpected finishes are very popular, with brands offering black, gold, bronze, brushed gold and copper finishes to combat demand. Industrial elements are making their way into washrooms, think rough materials such as exposed wood floors, course rope loops to hold towels, rust effect on bathroom accessories and exposed piping used for taps.
As always, trends are changeable but more and
more it’s becoming clear that investing in long- waring bathroom furniture and ceramics pays off. Picking staples that last allows the homeowner to grow and adapt with their bathroom, designing around these lasting pieces as their tastes grow and change.
Future Trends As we look forward, all signs point to dark bathrooms dominating upcoming trends. Black taps, valves and showers have certainly taken the market by storm, but we predict things will go a step further. Picture dark tiles in shower enclosures, glistening white ceramics against a jet-black backdrop and an overall lush and comforting washroom that makes a big statement. This is clearly a reaction to the bright white and sterile bathrooms of the past, in fact, we are already seeing celebrities picking up this dark trend in their own homes, be sure to look out for it.
