Specialist heritage contractor, Associated Steel Window Services (ASWS) has been appointed to undertake a comprehensive refurbishment of the iconic staircase glazing at the De La Warr Pavilion in Bexhill-on-Sea. The 28-week programme will see ASWS carry out a full off-site refurbishment of the north and south bowed-plan staircase steel frame windows, alongside the installation of new steel ring beams, curved metal beading and new glazing. In addition to its specialist steel window expertise, ASWS is
acting as Principal Contractor for the works, responsible for site welfare, scaffolding, boundaries and overall site provisions. The phased approach has been carefully planned to ensure that all areas of the venue remain open throughout 2026.

GTAccess launches GTAccess Robotics to accelerate construction automation across the UK

CSC Robotic Engineering and GTAccess have announced a strategic partnership that marks a significant milestone in the adoption of construction robotics across the UK. Under the agreement, GTAccess becomes CSC’s official UK distribution partner for robotic sales and rental, operating as GTAccess Robotics, creating the country’s first dedicated nationwide ecosystem for the supply, deployment and support of advanced construction robotics. More than a distribution agreement, the partnership fundamentally changes how contractors can adopt robotic technology. Until now, introducing construction robotics has often involved lengthy procurement processes, specialist logistics and significant capital investment. Through GTAccess Robotics, contractors can now access, deploy and support construction robotics in days rather than months through a single nationwide provider. A £480,000 investment will transform existing space at Summerfield Primary Care Centre (PCC) in Birmingham, increasing local capacity for community-based health care, as part of the Government’s Neighbourhood Rebuild Programme. The project will repurpose former dental space to support
the delivery of respiratory and diabetes community services, delivered by Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. The development will provide an extra 41,000 patient appointments each year, helping to meet rising local demand. The project supports the Government’s ambition to deliver
more care closer to home by expanding services in community settings. Summerfield PCC has been selected as one of the first 16 CHP NHS LIFT buildings included in wave one of the national Neighbourhood Rebuild Programme, helping to bring services closer to local communities and supporting the shift towards more preventative, joined up and integrated models of care. Construction is due to begin imminently, with completion
anticipated in January 2027. CHP is working in partnership with Birmingham Community
Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, NHS Birmingham and Solihull Integrated Care Board and BaS LIFTCo to deliver the project. The investment will also support the continued development of Summerfield PCC ensuring the building is used more effectively to meet the needs of the local population. KE204
with a Skyjack SJ3220 scissor lift to create a fully mobile robotic drilling and anchor installation solution. It has been developed to automate repetitive wall and ceiling drilling tasks while providing accurate, repeatable results. The integrated access platform allows operators to safely position the robot at height, making it ideal for large-scale construction and infrastructure projects. The D3 is an autonomous robotic drilling and anchor
installation system designed specifically for MEP (Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing) applications. It drills holes from 5-22mm in diameter to depths of up to 200mm, before automatically cleaning the hole and installing the flush or wedge anchor, leaving it ready for the final fixture to be secured. Delivering drilling accuracy of up to ±3mm, the system provides
consistent installation quality alongside comprehensive digital records for every hole, including installation data and photographic evidence for quality assurance and traceability. Rather than replacing skilled operatives, the D3 automates
hazardous and repetitive drilling tasks, helping contractors reduce exposure to hand-arm vibration (HAV) in dense drilling applications, while also minimising work at height, dust exposure and entry into confined spaces. The result is improved productivity, enhanced health and safety, reduced operator fatigue and the ability to redeploy skilled workers to higher-value activities, providing a practical and scalable route to introducing automation into existing construction projects. Through its partnership with CSC Robotics, GTAccess will also
introduce additional robotic solutions as they are developed, allowing the company to build a comprehensive portfolio of construction automation equipment for the UK market.
