Astley creates signage design from primary school student
S
ignage specialist Astley, has sponsored a local school with a creative road
safety competition, with the winning entry due to be brought to life as a professionally manufactured sign.
The Gateshead-based specialist has partnered with Harlow Green Primary School, kicking off its support with a creative road safety competition that has engaged pupils across the school. As part of the initiative, pupils were invited to design artwork inspired by road safety themes, aiming to address safe driving and parking around their school. Entries were reviewed by the company’s board, with the overall winning entry by Harlow Green student, Eli, which will be brought to life as a professionally manufactured sign. On January 14, Astley visited the school to present a monetary donation, and celebrate the competition winners with book vouchers in recognition of their efforts.

the ‘Matterhorn of the Himalayans’, and came within striking distance of the summit, making it to Camp 2, approximately 730m below the peak. Alongside the climb, Mr Cox also held a charity auction, which saw a further £15,000 for Young Epilepsy and £15,000 for Lupus UK raised.

Mr Cox said: “I’m grateful for all of the support I’ve received, especially from those in the industry, who really dug deep to support me and played a major role in me surpassing the target I was aiming for, an amount that will truly make a difference to these important charities.” Jane Beaven, Young Epilepsy CEO, said: “Taking on Ama Dablam is no small achievement, and the remarkable funds raised will help us continue providing vital information, support and research for the more than 100,000 children and young people living with epilepsy across the UK.”
