A new division has been launched by City Plumbing to serve tradespeople operating in the light commercial sector. Commercial at City Plumbing will be run by a new team which represents over 40 years of industry experience. Previously the MD of City

Supporting industry charity

The popular industry charity Band of Builders (BoB) has been announced as the new charity partner for Wolseley Group over the next two years. BoB is a national charity that completes practical projects to help members of the UK building industry and their families who are battling illness or injury. Its work has generated an active community of approximately 50,000 tradespeople, supporters, sponsors and well-wishers. “Band of Builders is a fantastic charity to support for our industry,

and together, we believe we can have a positive impact,” says Simon Gray, CEO at Wolseley Group. “Our new partnership has been received incredibly well across our business and we look forward to supporting its future projects.” Gavin Crane, CEO at BoB, adds: “We look forward to a close

working relationship that will help us reach a wider audience across the construction industry in the UK. This partnership is vitally important in enabling us to deliver more projects where volunteers come together to support their peers through renovations or repairs that make a real difference to their lives. It’s also a great opportunity to highlight the other services BoB offers – particularly our mental health and wellbeing support, which we know is much needed across the construction industry right now.”

MD Dave Griggs comments:

“Ultimately, we’re a national distributor with a localised service. Whether customers engage with us as part of the specification part of their projects or if they need urgent delivery of parts for repairs and maintenance, our aim is to build a division that has the stock, supplier relationships and infrastructure to deliver what they need and when they need it.”

The plumbing, heating and bathroom buying group, PHG Plumbing Heating Group, has announced that Williams Trade Supplies will be joining in January. An independent trade-only plumbing and heating merchant, Williams Trade Supplies has over 50 branches across the UK and operates with four regional fulfilment centres in Fareham, Manchester, Milton Keynes and Bristol. Company chairman Ray Stafford says: “We are delighted to be

welcomed into PHG and look forward to the benefits that our combined purchasing can bring for our business and those of other members.” David Pochin, chairman at PHG, adds: “We are extremely pleased to

welcome Ray and his team to PHG and look forward to working closely with them. We know that they will bring great commitment, energy and experience to the PHG table and become a valuable member.”

Rapid supply service delivers in an hour

TradeKart is the name of a new rapid same-day delivery service launched by Toolstation, with tradespeople able to access over 10,000 products for delivery in as little as one hour. The new service is designed to enable users to purchase products and materials while working on site, helping to save time and the hassle of leaving a job, which can then cause delays. It launches after research by Toolstation found that 28% of tradespeople said that a same- day delivery service would make a positive difference to their business. The research also found that the average tradesperson in the UK currently loses over three hours a week collecting materials

covering London, Manchester, Birmingham, Liverpool, Glasgow and Edinburgh, before being rolled out across the rest of the company’s store network. Customers can check to see if the service is available in their area by checking their delivery postcode at www.tradekart.com. Chris Other, customer director

from stores – a significant cost and time burden. The new delivery service

will initially be available at 44 Toolstation stores across the UK,

at Toolstation, says: “We know how busy they are and the challenges they face when working on site, and no-one wants to down tools and spend time battling traffic to pick up a specific product. Partnering with Tradekart means that we can provide customers with the ultimate convenience that will keep them on the job.”
