PHAM NEWS | APRIL 2025 26 Productsin Action Renewable heating fi ts in with heritage property
Rauvitherm pre-insulated PE-Xa pipe from Rehau has been specifi ed for a sustainable heating system in a Peak District home located in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Renewable Planet, the energy consultants for the project, fi tted two 10kW heat pumps strategically placed 3m from the main building to maintain unobstructed views. To connect the heat pumps
Air source heats up the glampsite
Ideal Heating has helped an award-winning glampsite reduce its carbon footprint thanks to the installation of seven heat pumps now providing low carbon energy for its cabins and private hot tubs. Finesse Plumbing & Heating
Engineers worked with Ideal to deliver the bespoke heating solution for Wold Escapes, helping the business become more sustainable, reduce ongoing energy costs and improve the visitor experience. The project highlights the
versatility of Ideal’s air source heat pumps, which have brought signifi cant environmental and operational benefi ts for Wold Escapes, which is located near Driffi eld in the heart of the Yorkshire Wolds. “As a company, we’ve always
looked for ways to reduce our carbon footprint,” says Wold Escapes manager Georgina Renfrew. “We’ve already installed solar panels on the roof of our main building, so adding heat pumps is another step forward to becoming a more sustainable business. If we want to keep growing and expanding, we cannot aff ord to increase our carbon footprint. We need to continue to take proactive steps to reduce our environmental impact.” ◼

to the plant room in the cellar, a trench was constructed, requiring careful planning to preserve the property’s exterior
aesthetics. The Rauvitherm pipe was chosen for its fl exibility and thermal retention properties, which are crucial for minimising heat losses. This pipe system facilitated complex connections necessary for the installation. The use of Everloc compression
technology ensured a reliable, leak-tight connection. The project achieved a low-carbon heating solution that met both functional and aesthetic requirements, without compromising the heritage of the building. ◼

Better boiler installation
Doncaster Racecourse has seen the installation of a new Upton fl oor-standing modular boiler system from Hamworthy to replace outdated boilers that had reached the end of their operational life. Three vertically stacked Upton UF900-3 condensing boilers were fi tted, along with a low loss header kit and an air and dirt separator. The Upton modular boilers feature an aluminium heat
exchanger and provide 900kW output while occupying less than 1m2
of fl oor space. Delivered fully assembled, the design facilitated
easy installation without the need for heavy lifting equipment. Following installation, commissioning was performed by an approved service engineer to ensure optimal effi ciency. The new system enhances the plant room’s accessibility and off ers a reliable heating solution for the racecourse, enabling savings on fuel bills and reduced emissions. ◼
