Infrared heating for small homes
The infrared heat panel system from Ambion provides an effective heating solution for small residential spaces, such as flats and maisonettes. Since it does not require external units like air source heat pumps, it addresses space limitations effectively. Installation is straightforward and can be performed by any qualified electrician.
The technology is said to provide
advantages in terms of lower installation and upfront costs when compared to traditional heating methods, such as storage heaters. Its design allows for easy
Advanced circulator
EvoPlus Lite is the name of DAB Pumps’ wet rotor electronic circulator designed for use in heating, cooling and domestic hot water systems. This circulator features a plug-and-play installation, with a quick-connect power supply that simplifies wiring and reduces installation time. Suitable for large residential and commercial buildings, the EvoPlus
Lite delivers adaptive, high-efficiency performance while minimising energy consumption and operating costs. Its sensorless motor control and dedicated 32-bit processor optimise performance in real time, ensuring that energy is only used when needed. A Sleep Mode activates every 25 hours to prevent limescale build-up. With a maximum flow rate of 12.5 m3
/h and operation at a low noise level of 33 dB(A), it is designed
for efficiency, reliability, and user convenience. ◼

integration with other energy efficiency measures, including solar PV systems and smart water heating solutions. The system uses advanced algorithms to manage heat distribution throughout a 24-hour period, minimising energy spikes and optimising efficiency. In testing, Ambion’s system
has demonstrated rapid heat-up times, achieving a temperature
increase of 1.55°C per hour. This capability is claimed to allow for consistent and comfortable indoor temperatures while reducing energy expenditures, resulting in a more efficient heating experience. ◼

Reducing demand in electric
appliances
The Electric Heating Company (EHC) is incorporating demand response technology from Voltalis into its appliances, to provide EHC appliance owners with improved control over their electricity usage and enhanced efficiency. The first wave of rollouts
from this partnership will see approximately 1,100 EHC appliance owners in southern Scotland and London receiving installations of Voltalis’ hardware. With this technology, which is free for the consumer after opting in, EHC says its appliance owners could save up to 15% on electricity consumption. Voltalis’ demand response
technology, also known as ‘intelligent demand-side management,’ temporarily modulates electricity consumption in residential and commercial buildings to balance supply and demand. This ensures the power grid’s stability while also increasing the potential for reduced energy costs to the consumer.
Newly installed and retrofitted
appliances set to benefit from this accompanying demand response tech include a wide range of EHC products such as electric boilers, electric radiators and heat pumps. Dr Randall Bowen, UK Voltalis
MD, says: “Customers will see not only the benefits of demand response technology in brand-new appliances but will also be able to reap the rewards of retrofitting existing systems. Those in residential and commercial properties will be able to take greater control of their daily electricity usage, which can in turn usher in improved energy savings for all.” ◼
